Description

Klemen Janežič graduated in stage acting at the Academy of Theatre, Radio, Film and Television, University of Ljubljana in the class of Professors Matjaž Zupančič and Boris Ostan, and obtained his MA degree in the Art of Movement. His solo performance, Torso, was mentored by Tanja Zgonc, and he received the Prešeren Award for Students for it. In 2011 he pursued his training at the SU-EN Butoh Company in Uppsala, Sweden. He has been involved in various Slovenian theatres and independent theatre companies and sought to establish himself in various original directing poetics, from dance to puppet theatre. He has been a member of the SNT Drama Ljubljana resident ensemble since 2013. In a relatively brief period, he has successfully created a diverse set of intriguing roles at the SNT Drama Ljubljana and elsewhere (the Anton Podbevšek Theatre, Novo mesto, the Slovene Permanent Theatre in Trieste, Italy, the Glej Theatre) – most recently, in the production of Station Selbstsein (at the Ljubljana Old Power Plant) in 2020. His exploration of movement fundamentally impacts his understanding of acting that he seeks to explore in every performance, while displaying a wider interest in theatre and undertaking other creative tasks, most often as movement coach. He is also involved in dubbing animated films and often appears in film and television.
