SLOGI and Drama

In the 2025/26 season, we will continue the SLOGI and Drama program, which we launched two years ago in collaboration with the Slovenian Theatre Institute (SLOGI).

The lectures on the historical context of Drama’s current productions have become very popular with audiences, as they offer a valuable broader insight into the background of the performances we stage at Drama. SLOGI curators place the texts of the productions within a wider historical, artistic, and social framework, examining them from the perspective of cultural heritage as well as through the lens of theatre scholarship and critical reviews of past productions.

The lectures also offer exclusive access to the rich collections of the theatre museum – showcasing photographs, sketches, and video recordings – and, even before attending the performance, encourage reflection on the themes and questions raised by the selected productions and their artistic interpretations.

In the 2025/26 season, the curators of the Slovenian Theatre Institute will present the historical contexts and backgrounds of past productions of the following texts and authors:

  • The Liberation of SkopjeDušan Jovanović

  • King LearWilliam Shakespeare

  • Mr. Puntila and His Man MattiBertolt Brecht

  • An Enemy of the PeopleHenrik Ibsen

  • VorancDane Zajc
