Janko Kos on Ideologists and Dissidents

After a very successful presentation of his first book Janko Kos returns to the Drama Café with his second book, which will be presented in an interview with the author and Tone Smolej.

Ideologists and Dissidents is the second part of autobiographical records by Janko Kos, the sequel to his first book Artists and Citizens. In his book Ideologists and Dissidents the author describes the time of dynamic developments in the field of publishing, as well as the beginning and abolishment of the literary journal Beseda. The author defines the abolishment of Beseda in 1957 as the beginning of the confrontation between the dissidents and ideologists. He analyzes this confrontation in detail when the further development of dissident journalism continued with the literary journal Revija 57 and particularly with the Perspektive. Janko Kos as one of the representatives of the “critical generation” outlines the broader political developments around the arrests of a dissident Jože Pučnik and clarifies his role among his contemporaries. Excerpts from the book will be interpreted by a member of the SNG Drama Ljubljana ensemble Zvone Hribar.

Join us on Thursday, 22 October, at 17.00 in the Drama Café. Tickets for the event, organized by the SNG Drama Ljubljana and Beletrina, are available at the Drama box office.
